The Lowdown for Freshers

What is Korfball?

If you join Exeter Uni's Korfball Club, you will be asked this question by everyone for the rest of your life. This is the quick answer we give all of our friends:

"Korfball is a Dutch version of Basketballbut has similiarities to both English Basketball and Netball.

It is a mixed sport, with four guys and four girls on each team, and is non-contact."

For more information on Korfball, click here or on the What is Korfball? link above.

But I've never played before...

Very few people have played Korfball before Uni (I know I haven't!) Nearly every Korfer at Exeter Uni only started playing at Uni, because it's something new and exciting to try out!

Korfball is great fun regardless of experience and the game is very easy to pick up. Also, with lots of available game time in the local league and friendly's, you'll be a pro in no time!

Come along to any one of our training sessions throughout the year, and have a go!

How much is membership?

Membership is only £65, which makes Korfball one of the cheapest sports at the University of Exeter.

What if I can't always make training?

We only train once a weekwhich shows we are a very relaxed club. Come along to training whenever you are free and keen for some korfball.

EUKC is a club for your leisure, you choose when you want to come along, not us!

Are there many opportunities to play in matches?

Exeter Uni has two korfball teams playing in the local South West Korfball Association (SWKA) league. The first team is usually made up of the more experienced players and the second team is usually for those new to Korfball.

Therefore, regardless of experience we will do our best to get you taking part in as many matches as you want to.

EUKC also has a third team, which participates in local friendly matches for those who would like more experience before taking part in league matches.

Do you play in tournaments too?

If you join Exeter Univeristy Korfball Club, you will get the opporunity to take part in the Cardiff Fresher's tournament in October, which will give you a great taste of competitive Korfball, with a cracking social in the evening!

There are various other tournaments throughout the year available to anyone interested. Look at the Match Centre for more info.

How often do you have socials?

After nearly every training session, we go to the Ram for a drink (Exeter Uni's student bar), but we try to arrange a social once every 2/3 weeks. Look at our Upcoming Events for more details.

Alcohol is NOT a necessity for any social.

When is training?

Training will always be on Thursdays at 8:00pm on the Covered Courts at  Streatham Sports Park, Exeter.
